Jack Gardner has been writing and illustrating children’s books since he was six years old. He has won the PBS Kids GO! Writers Contest two times with his books Frank the Monster and Frank and George Save the Day. The Biggelow was the first of his books to be published. Hyro’s Quest was his first children’s chapter book. Now 18, Jack lives in Lake Stevens, Washington with his family and continues to write and illustrate new stories.
My goal as an artist and a writer is to give children a new perspective on the world, to see themselves in a new light.
I believe that everyone of us has something to offer this world, something truly special.
Through hard work, determination, and just a little bit of magic, I have come to learn that if we look at the world around us hard enough, we can find a fantastic place of our very own.
You just have to know where to look.
Ever since I was little, I have always enjoyed a good story. Anything, from Star Wars to The Lord of the Rings, to The Little Prince. There was something in those stories, a feeling that I couldn't quite describe, but knew I couldn't live without. It was a feeling of wonder. A feeling that told you anything and everything you ever wished to imagine, was really possible. It was a feeling that artists and writers seek to instill in everyone who dares to gaze into their work, and it's a feeling I strive to give readers as well.
